CCC 101!

Are you new to Christ Church Cathedral and would like to have a crash course in what we’re all about? (Or, are you newish to us, or simply just curious to know more?) Consider being a part of Christ Church 101, a new one-hour gathering on Sunday, March 4, 2012 just after the 11 a.m. Eucharist. We’ll cover the very basics of who Christ Church Cathedral is as an Episcopal congregation, look at our basic worship practices, help you get to know who’s who (e.g. what’s the difference between a Dean and a Canon?), take a quick tour of the Cathedral (behind the scenes included!), and share with you some possible ways you can be involved at a pace that feels right for you. The best part? There’s no obligation or advanced sign-ups required. Simply meet us underneath the pulpit just after the Eucharist on March 4, and plan on being with us for exactly one hour.

Once Upon a Time… Our Stories in Scripture and in the World

If you are looking for a way to deepen your engagement with scripture during Lent or want to learn more about how your own life story intersects with the stories of the Bible, then please join us for Once Upon a Time… Wednesday nights in Lent.

Once Upon a Time… will include a fresh look at some of the most important stories in the Bible along with stories form books, movies, radio, and our own experiences.  Each Wednesday, we will begin with dinner and a look at these stories, and we will round out the evening with a chance to find ourselves in these stories of surprise, love, mercy, beginnings, and more.

Join us!  6:00 beginning Wednesday, February 29th in the Parish Hall.  If you are interested or would like more information, please send Rev. Andy Shamel an email at andys@cccindy.org for questions, and EllenS@cccindy.org to register!

Be with us on Ash Wednesday, February 22 for the start of Lent. Services will be at 7 a.m., 12:05 p.m., 5:30 p.m. And 7:30 p.m. in spanish.

New this year: "Ashes On The Go" on the Circle! No time for the service? No problem! Meet us on the sidewalk in front of the Church for your imposition of ashes! Christ Church Cathedral is offering Ashes On The Go on the Circle this Ash Wednesday, February 22, from 7:30-9 a.m., from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and from 4-5:30 p.m. Passers-by, downtown workers, visiting guests from out of town, and the spiritually curious are all welcome to drop by the Cathedral’s lawn on 125 Monument Circle and to have a priest place the symbolic ashes of Lent on their foreheads, a sign of penitence and recognition of human mortality. This is a first-time, unique approach to Ash Wednesday for the City of Indianapolis, and for Christ Church Cathedral!
