March 30: Mothering Sunday Lunch

Posted by

Save the date for our 76th Annual Mothering Sunday Lunch: March 30, 11:15 a.m. - our "men serve the ladies" mid-Lent savory moment. Mothering Sunday is the English version of Mid-Lent, a day when the strictness of Lenten discipline was relaxed. CCC has observed it since 1938 (not surprisingly, with food)!

Following the 10 a.m. Holy Eucharist, the Men of the parish will prepare and serve a lovely brunch of eggs, cheese blintzes, sausages, asparagus with hollandaise, OJ, coffee, and more - all for $6 ($3/12 years and under). Tickets are available in the Parish Hall before and after service beginning this Sunday. Please contact Carl Michaelis636-4577 if you have any questions.

CCC Blesses Second Helpings' Cooler

Posted by

This week, CCC blessed a 200 sq. ft. cooler inside the garage at Second Helpings. The cooler was made possible with gifts from the parish.

The additional refrigerated space not only provides more capacity to safely hold perishable foods, but also makes it possible for Second Helpings to prepare and deliver even more meals to children, adults, seniors and families at social service agencies in Central Indiana, including organizations like The Julian Center, Dayspring and Boys and Girls Clubs.

Currently, Second Helpings is creating and delivering more than 3,500 meals daily to 70+ social service agencies.

Compline: Singing in Silence, Light in Darkness

Posted by
The service of Compline stems from the earliest prayer traditions of the ancient church. Traditionally, it is the last of the daily monastic services, sung as a final prayer of the day before  going to sleep. Today, this candlelit liturgy offers a rare opportunity for deep spiritual contemplation and meditation as we look towards Holy Week - or even just the work week! Join us on Sunday, April 6 at 8:30 p.m. to experience this special service for yourself.

For anyone who would like to take part in the Compline Choir, you are invited! There will be a rehearsal in the choir room at 7:15 pm. Our own Dean Stephen Carlsen will be bolstering the tenor section! All are welcome to sing. Please RSVP your interest to sing in the choir by Friday, April 4 to Dana Marsh. A free-will offering will be taken to benefit the South Sudan.

John was born in Indiana and raised in Florida. He moved from Florida to Alabama to attend Indian Spring School. After graduating from Kenyon College in 2000, with a double major in English and Religious Studies, he began working as a student chaplain at a children's hospital.

When he was the Rector of the Episcopal parish on campus and a chaplain at Kenyon, Dean Stephen E. Carlsen met John while he was a student at Kenyon College. John spent a summer as a chaplain at the Columbus Children's Hospital. His experience as a chaplain to sick children continues to influence his writing.
