Quiet Day Rescheduled to March 7

Last week's frigid temperatures and snow storm caused us to cancel and reschedule our Lenten Quiet Day. We hope you will join us on Saturday, March 7. Quiet Days are offered during the church year as time set apart for prayer, meditation, reading, reflection, and silence.

We invite you to a sacred time and space where you can experience God through prayer, reflection, contemplation, self-discovery, scripture, healing, and silence.

March 8 Concert Features Soprano Shareese Arnold

Musical Concert Featuring Shareese Arnold, soprano and Matthew Middleton, piano

When: Sunday, March 8, 2015, 4:30pm
Cost: $10

Hailed for her “rhapsodic splendor” and “ethereal” voice, soprano Shareese Arnold teams up with Matthew Middleton and string quartet to fill Christ Church Cathedral with music of heartache, longing, and hope. With larger-than-life flair, Arnold captivates audiences singing operatic title roles in Madama Butterfly, Porgy and Bess, Don Giovanni, and Dido and Aeneas, among others. While a student at IU Bloomington she was a featured soloist for Brahms’ Requiem, accompanied by a 200+ member choir and orchestra, and for Britten’s World of Spirit

Mrs. Arnold is currently in her second year of doctoral work at the University of Kentucky on full scholarship. Her research interests include Russian Vocal Literature and Disability Studies in music.  When not performing, her interests include fitness and you can find her in the kitchen trying new vegan recipes and spending time with her husband.

Sunday’s concert will feature works by Strauss, Rachmaninoff, and a collection of Negro Spirituals. You won’t want to miss it!

Mothering Sunday Traditions Continue: March 15

Posted by

Please join us for our annual Mothering Sunday Breakfast, March 15, following the 10 a.m. Holy Eucharist. Mothering Sunday is the mid-point of Lent, and was a traditional time to relax Lenten disciplines, visit your "mother church" and later came to be an English "Mother's Day," as it continues to be through most of the British Commonwealth.

Join us for Simnels - a traditional part of Mothering Sunday, cheese blintzes, sausages, asparagus with hollandaise, and juice.

Tickets at the door are $6 adults, $3 children 12 years and younger. The other wonderful tradition at CCC is that the men of the parish plan, cook, and serve the meal. Men of all ages are invited to help. Contact Tim Culbertson to volunteer.
