Festival of Faiths: Aug. 30

Posted by

The 2015 Festival of Faiths returns downtown Sunday, Aug. 30, 1-5 p.m., at the Veteran's Memorial Plaza. This event is Indiana's largest celebration of faith diversity. Stop by and visit the Christ Church Cathedral table!

Central Indiana has a long history of honoring our religious diversity. In a world where religious differences too often separate people and communities, Hoosiers have learned to work together to understand and respect our growing multi-faith society. On Aug. 30, we will come together to learn about our religious heritage and share the joys of our many unique faith traditions.

We will have extra mats to borrow or purchase. All ages are welcome. Free! Contact Anne Tordai for more information annet@cccindy.org.

Bishop Chilton Knudsen to Visit Aug. 14-18

Posted by
We are pleased to welcome the Rt. Rev. Chilton Knudsen, Assistant Bishop of Long Island, to CCC Aug. 14-18 and again in September and October. Bishop Knudsen is a former bishop of Maine, and a widely respected author and counselor in the field of addiction recovery.

Bishop Knudsen received her M. Div. from Seabury- Western Theological Seminary in 1980, and was ordained deacon in 1980 and priest in 1981. In 1987, she was called as Pastoral Care Officer (later Canon for Pastoral Care) in the Diocese of Chicago, where she developed a nationwide ministry of consulting and training about Sexual Misconduct in church settings. The material she developed continues to be widely used.

Bishop Knudsen has a long and personal interest in issues of addiction and recovery, especially regarding systems (congregations, dioceses, organizations) that have experienced the subtle yet powerful effects of addiction-in all its forms-in clergy or lay leaders. She planted three new Maine congregations (including Maine's only Latino congregation) and led in the revitalization of several congregations, including congregations that suffered from the aftermath of addiction in their leadership.

Changes in the Vestry

Posted by
Some necessary leadership changes have taken place within our vestry. As we say goodbye to two members, we welcome two in their place.

Vestry member, Carlos Arboleda, informed us that the U.S. Army had given him a new assignment that would require him to move out of Indianapolis. From his first meeting, he has been an active participant in the work of the parish, as part of the Missions group, as well as teaching the Adult Formation class in Spanish. In addition, Barbie Russell, also informed us that she felt her family had been called to assist Gray Lesesne with the new church plant in Brownsburg. Barbie has also been engaged and involved with CCC at almost every level. She has played an essential part in moving our strategic vision forward. It is an honor for us to send one of our brightest leaders and her family out into our community to spread Christ's message.

In accordance with the bylaws of the church, we welcome David Baldwin to complete the three-year term of Carlos Arboleda and Ashleigh Graves-Roesler to serve the unexpired one-year term of Barbie Russell. Should Ashleigh wish to continue after the end of this year her name will be placed in nomination for a new three year term.

Please join us in congratulating David and Ashleigh for stepping into these important leadership positions! At our next vestry meeting we will elect a new junior warden.

Also, we hope you will offer your support and your thanksgiving for the ministry and service of Barbie and Carlos as they leave our parish but will remain always with us in Christ. Our prayers go with them and their families.
