Posted by

Join us this fall for an exciting series of learning on Discipleship. We will accomplish this is two efforts:

  • Sunday Forums with clergy and lay leaders
  • Small Groups led by parishioners meeting throughout the week

Jesus personal ministry with his Disciples fed his public ministry and teachings. So too we hope that we may grow to be better followers of Jesus, together.

  • Monday Evening Southsiders
  • Fishers and Carmel Disciples
  • En Espanol
  • Wednesday Evening Elders, ages 50+
  • Thursday Parents Circle (child care provided!)
  • Donuts and Disciples on Saturday morning in Fountain Square
  • Early Morning with our homeless guests and Rev. Lee
  • Sunday Morning Music at 9:00 at CCC

Please contact Meghan McConnell at MeghanM@cccindy.org for more information.

God the Giver: Sunday Forum on September 27th

Posted by

Every act of generous giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. ~ James 1:17

Join us this Sunday for God the Giver at the Sunday Forum. Together we will reflect on the stewardship of Christ Church Cathedral with Rev. Shannon MacVean-Brown and Ken File, Senior Warden.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu writes in his book In God's Hands, "This is a God who intervenes on our behalf, not because we deserve it, but becasuse God's love is freely given. It is grace. It is not earned; it cannot be earned. It does not need to be earned."

God is the Giver, the ultimate lover of all God has created.

Each of us must grab hold of the exhilarating truth that all we are and all we have are gifts from God. As Tutu writes, "We are quite bamboozled when we encounter the God of the Bible." Indeed we are. We can't quite believe that God cares so deeply about us. It is counter to our culture. Our culture says we must earn everything, while the Bible tells us we can't. God's love is freely given.

Again this year - every dollar we raise from the congregation will go directly to our mission and outreach. We pray our "God the Giver" plan will awaken a sense of the abundance in our congregation and an increased joy to living generously.

Sincerely,

Ken File

Senior Warden

Discipleship: Small Groups on Sundays

Posted by

Discipleship: Following Christ. Together.

I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. - John 13: 34-35

We are gathering together this fall to help each other become better followers of Jesus Christ, which happens naturally when we love him. Every Sunday after the 10:00 a.m. worship Sunday we will have our forum in the Parish Hall. We will have food, coffee and tea available

  • September 13 - Personal Discipleship
  • September 27 - God the Giver
  • October 4 - Prayer
  • October 11 - Learning
  • October 18 - Service
  • October 25 - Caring
  • November 8 - Discipleship: Following Christ

Join us in gathering for small groups this fall as we live into our mission through Prayer, Service, Learning, Caring and Giving. Groups will meet at an agreed upon time and place outside of church. The small groups will form in September and last through the beginning of November. A short liturgy will be available for groups to use for focus, including scripture reading and prayers. We will be in homes, in restaurants, coffee shops and taverns.
