2019 Vestry Class

Posted by

Please help us welcome our incoming vestry class:

Mr. Lee Campbell

I have attended CCC since 2012 and go to the 10 am service.

I love so much about CCC! The diversity of the congregation. The ability to work with people of different opinions for a common goal. The music, the building, the different Sunday services. The love.

Widening the Circle of God's Embrace is a great missional statement. It requires us, the congregation, to be active participants. As an Education for Ministry Mentor, I try to encourage my members to deepen their understanding of God and God's Church to show true love. Ministry is hard and support from people not actively involved in your ministry is important.

Dr. Shannon Joyce

I have attended CCC since 1999, and attend the 10 o'clock service.

What I love about CCC is the music program, but also my ability to make a difference. There are many opportunities to not only experience beauty and fellowship, but also to serve fellow parishioners and the community. We don't always do the best job of 'advertising' these opportunities, but there's something for nearly everyone. (Don't forget the Talent Showcase April 23rd!!)

I'm still unpacking my call to 'Widen the Circle'. Over the past several years, CCC and my  church family have been a cherished constant through many personal and professional changes; my desire to pay that forward has grown and evolved. I'm always talking about different ideas I

have or conceptual connections I've made, but lately my thoughts have been coalescing around the concepts of Community, Taking Care of each other, and Connection to the City.

With those ideas swirling in my head, I've recently been trained in creating Congregational Support Teams and am ready to get started helping CCCers take care of each other! Also, I'm on a mission to have CCC host an experience for this year's Spirit & Place Festival, whose purpose, in a nutshell, is to "ignite creativity, inspire place-making, and spark connections to create more vibrant and engaged communities." That's just my kind of activity.

Dr. Raquel Salvador

I joined the Hispanic Congregation of CCC in 2012. Since then I fall in love with the church because the Hispanic congregation is like a big family made of people of different nationalities and everybody is very friendly. In 2013, I joined the Hispanic choir that sings on Sundays at 1:00 pm. It has been a wonderful experience because I have been able to cultivate and to offer my talent to the service of the music minister, it also makes me feel closer and allows me to learn more about the seasons and ceremonies of the church. I have been involved with the church more than any other time in my life and consider CCC a very important pillar of my spiritual life - that is why I don't miss the opportunity to invite a friend or anybody to join this wonderful worship place, discover and share their gifts with this wonderful community.

Catechumenate Invites Faith

Posted by

Do you have questions about your faith? About God? Join us for our upcoming journey into faith: The Catechumenate.

God has always been found
not in having the right answer key
but among a community of disciples
who ask these questions of each other.

The Catechumenate (cat – he- CUE – men – it) are four weekend gathering in the Winter and Spring for those who want to explore mature, adult faith in the context of open and gracious conversation. The word Catechumenate describes an ancient process in the early Church by which people came to faith.

It was a process that relied on questioning. We still rely on questioning, but today question-asking is a two-way street.

Questions are welcome. Conversation is the norm. Everything is on the table.
Spiritual growth is the goal.

  • Saturday, February 6 | 10am - 2pm
  • Saturday, February 20 | 10am - 2pm
  • Retreat, March 4 - 5 *Required attendance
  • Saturday, March 19 | 10am - 2PM
  • Free parking provided
  • Childcare provided

For some, this process will result in a new faith commitment such as getting baptized or confirmed. Others will use this class to become a member of our community. No such commitment is required to participate. If you want to explore faith deeply, you are welcome.

Conversation will be facilitated by Stephen Carlsen, the Dean (senior pastor) of Christ  Church Cathedral, and by other clergy of the Cathedral. Contact Meghan McConnell at MeghanM@cccindy.org or (317) 636-4577 xt 108 for more details.
