August Auditions for Boys’ and Girls’ Choirs

Posted by

Our critically-acclaimed Boys’ and Girls’ Choirs are looking for 12 boys (ages 7-10) and 12 girls (ages 7-13) to round out our forces for the forthcoming Sacred Arts season. This selected group of talented children comes from all parts of the Indy area, representing a wide diversity of religious and cultural backgrounds. No previous training necessary – only a love of singing and a good ear are required.

This is a life-changing opportunity that provides professional training – free of charge. While the actual cost runs at about $3,500 per singer, all of our choristers are on full scholarship. The choirs will perform Handel’s Messiah at the Palladium in December, and they are slated to tour the UK in July 2014.

For audition information call Director of Music, Dr. Dana Marsh at DanaM@cccindy.org. or call 317-636-4577 ext. 638. Watch our informational video online at http://www.cccindy.org/sacred-music.

Auditions take place throughout August.

Celebrate 175 Years of Christ Church Cathedral

Posted by

Christ Church Cathedral began celebrating our 175th anniversary this past year, commemorating the first celebration of the Holy Eucharist by our first Rector on August 8, 1837. We culminated the celebration by observing the formal, official founding of Christ Church, on May 7, 1838. We chose to celebrate throughout the year, honoring our modest beginnings, rejoicing in today, and looking forward to what the future holds.

As we give thanks to God for 175 years of ministry, we extend our sincere appreciation for the leaders in faith who came before us and provided a strong legacy and foundation of faithful service. The enduring passions of our congregation— commitment to Christian witness in the heart of Indianapolis, expressed in sacred arts and service—will carry this legacy forward in order that those who come after us will share in this inheritance.

Maundy Thursday Prayer Vigil

Posted by

A longtime tradition of the Church is the keeping of a Vigil after the Maundy Thursday service, remembering Christ’s agony in the garden on the night before his crucifixion and keeping watch with Him. We will keep the Maundy Thursday vigil here at CCC on Thursday, March 28, from 9:30 p.m. until midnight.

You can sign up below to watch over the presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament at the Altar of Repose in 30 minute segments, and you may stay for 30 minutes or the whole night, or come and go. Some will bring devotional materials, others will pray, some will sit quietly. It is up to you how you will spend this precious silence with Christ and your fellow Cathedral members. A member of the staff will be available to escort you to the Express Park Garage when you need to leave. At midnight, those remaining will say the Lord’s Prayer together, consume the remaining Blessed Sacrament (so that there is no physical presence of Christ on Good Friday in the Church, symbolizing the crucifixion), and then leave together to walk to the Express Park Garage.
